In our 4 urban slums male unemployment and under-employment is nearly 37% (approximately 22,000 people),with men looking for work (daily wage, semi-professional/clerical) and unable to find requisite jobs through their informal networks. AHKRC has launched an employment portal (Apna Rozgar) to connect low-skilled workers to local employment. Wehelp place men in domestic and industry employment opportunities and develop registries of different low- and semi-skilled workers to facilitate easier job connectivity. We are testing a sustainable model of formalizing a platform that connects employers and low-skilled employees through volumes and low charges to the employee and employer. We also partner with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce (RCCI), State Bank of Pakistan, and others to provide business development, financial management, and entrepreneurship support resources and trainings for micro- and small business owners to help them expand and improve their businesses.
