AHKRC is implementing a health program in Dhok Hassu, Rawalpindi, since 2016 with an estimated population of 45,000 households, 42,000 Women of Reproductive Age).  AHKRC’s vision is to promote informed decision making on healththrough an integrated holistic approach, that complements economic empowerment with informed family planning decision making. The key intervention areas of the AHKRC Health Program are Family Planning, Nutrition, and  Immunization.

At the center of the model are Aapis, literate enthusiastic women from the community who have been trained on basic family planning (FP) ,immunization and nutrition. They are incentivized to reach out to community through sale of FP products, as well as business products (products of daily use such as hygiene products etc.) These business in a bag (BiB) products are entry points at the household level, building rapport in the community and helping Aapis earn extra income.

Aapis  conduct door to door visits, identify children who are malnourished, unvaccinated, counsel women on FP methods, helping them to make informed FP choices, as well as facilitating referrals to public and private health care providers.
