Future of Muslims: Negotiating between perceptions and reality

Akhter Hameed Khan Resource Center organized a lecture on April 12, 2011, on the future of Muslims and the notion of perception and reality, by Professor Adnan Zulfiqar.

Mr. Adnan Zulfiqar, who is a Law and Public Policy advisor at the Annenberg Center for Global Communication in Philadelphia, delivered the guest lecture. At present, he is pursuing his doctorate in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the Department of Middle Eastern Languages & Civilizations at the University of Pennsylvania. In the past, he has been the President of Salzburg Global Seminar, Austria, and a visiting scholar for human rights in Tehran. He is, also, an adjunct professor for religious studies at Arcadia University. He holds a Juris Doctor from University of Pennsylvania, MLS in International Law from Georgetown University, and bachelors in religion and anthropology from Emory University.

 

Report of AHKRC Public Forum on Madrassa Education

Akhter Hameed Khan Resource center organized a Public Forum on December 30, 2010 to share and discuss a case study on “Madrassa Education in two Union Councils of District Shikarpur”. Public forum is a regular event that brings together people from different walks of life and initiate deliberations on critical issues affecting the society based on empirical studies.


 


 

“Right of Shelter in Katchi Abadies of Islamabad”

Akhter Hameed Khan Resource Center (AHKRC) organized a Public Forum on “Right of Shelter in Katchi Abadies of Pakistan” on September 24, 2010 at community center of 66 Quarters, G-7/2, Islamabad. This forum was organized in collaboration with Plan Pakistan with the aim to initiate discussion on housing rights of the poor living in slums, to review and assess the policies and status of implementation, and all the issues which have hampered the implementation process with emphasis on future possible suggestions to devise course of action for housing rights of poor living in Katchi abadies of Islamabad.

This forum was organized in collaboration with Punjab Rural Support Programme with the aim to initiate discussion on the failure of present education system in meeting challenges posed by the current time thereby providing a platform to academia, civil society, educationists and public opinion makers to deliberate upon the issue.
